Geos Corporation was founded in Japan in 1973 with the goal of furthering international communication through English and Spanish language education. The name GEOS embodies this ideal: GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND SERVICES.

While the main sphere of its operations lies in Japan where it offers its educational services through a network of some 550 schools and colleges, GEOS also has a significant presence in Europe, North America, South East and North Asia, Oceania and our new schools at Cape Town, South Africa, Marbella, Spain and Costa Rica. In these regions GEOS is opening networks of English and Spanish language centers which provide students from all over the world the opportunity to become proficient in English and Spanish while experience the lifestyle associated with many interesting cultures.

At GEOS Costa Rica students have the opportunity to learn more than grammar rules. The experience of living with a Costa Rican family provides the student with an excellent approach to our culture, history and traditional values. At the same time, our programs have been designed to start using the language right from the first day.

All our Spanish teachers are native speakers and have years of experience in teaching Spanish as a second language. Our staff shares the same goal: to help the students feel at home and for them to learn more Spanish every day.

Learning Spanish:

Spanish is one of the official languages of the United Nations, the European Union and other international organizations. Spanish is used for international communication on political, economical and cultural issues. It is also an important business language, and therefore the most studied foreign language in the non-Hispanic countries of America and Europe.

Spanish is a popular second or third language: with some 400 million speakers, it's the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world. Nowadays, many job opportunities require you to speak Spanish.  Speaking Spanish well definitely gives you an edge over other job applicants.

Spanish is useful, easy and fun!

Our Courses:

Our Spanish program is divided into four different levels. At the beginning we focus on developing communication skills, although all four areas of language learning will be covered (speaking, listening, reading and writing). From there we go to the advanced level that will prepare students to participate in conversations with native speakers.

Our private classes are designed to fit the student's needs. For these courses the materials, topics and schedules are very flexible. At GEOS Costa Rica we also have Japanese and English classes. A new session begins every four weeks. You can enroll for just one session or several sessions. We encourage you to join us at the beginning of a session but it is possible to enroll at any time.

At GEOS Language School we offer you a great variety of tours and activities to enjoy nature and adventure altogether.
If you are looking for something more relaxing you can always go to the hot springs of Arenal Volcano. If you prefer to stay in the city and experience the night life in San Jose there are many options such as restaurants, discotheques and night clubs where you can enjoy all kinds of music, from Latin rhythms to the classic blues and jazz.

We also offer the possibility to participate in different volunteer programs that promote activities to preserve and protect the environment. The programs go from working with turtles on the beach to maintenance work up in the mountains of Chirripó National Park. This is also an excellent way to practice Spanish.

Costa Rica offers a plethora of Spanish language institutes but I chose GEOS for its helpful and energetic staff, its flexible class schedules, and the quality of its one-to-one teaching method.

Since I only had a few weeks in Costa Rica, I wanted to find a Spanish language program that was intense and comprehensive, but at the same time fun and enjoyable.  I found it all at GEOS!

After just two weeks of Spanish classes at GEOS, I went from not knowing a word of Spanish to comfortably discussing politics and other contemporary topics in Spanish with my Costa Rican friends.

I arrived in Costa Rica with a base understanding of the Spanish language, but I sought to improve my grammar, vocabulary, writing, and fluency skills, especially for the workplace.  GEOS Costa Rica helped me achieve this goal by tailoring an engaging course to my needs.  My instructor, Claudia, was extremely professional and fun to spend two hours with a day.  Moreover, GEOS was always accommodating to my busy work schedule.  Thanks to GEOS I feel so much more confident speaking, reading and writing Spanish.

My experience at GEOS Costa Rica was very successful. The teachers are highly qualified and very friendly. I enrolled in the Homestay program and I really enjoyed it. The Institute is nice, clean and safe. I also liked the fact that GEOS is close to the shopping mall and the gym.

Costa Rica

Pude ver
buenos profesores y me ayudaron mucho para aprenderlo. Personal de la
escuela me ayudó no sólo aprender español sino vivir y conocer Costa Rica.
Costa Rica.
Voy a seguir aprendiendo español después de volver a Japón y quisiera
regresar a Costa Rica otra vez.
